Wanna shoot your kids? (or anyone/anything else?) Well introducing GAMU – the class to help you learn your camera.
Details – on Saturday, August 14th, 2010 we will have GAMU version 4. I’ve whittled down the info and am very satisfied with the class structure and information I want to provide for you to learn how to use that DSLR and take much better photos. Interested in joining me?
Details are as follows:
COST: Deposit of $100 to hold your spot (link below to pay), $200 due on class day.
LOCATION: N’s Garden Cafe in Uruma! Directions: From Kadena, go STRAIGHT out Gate 3 (the back gate). Stay straight – go past Karing Kennels, BC’s CARS, SE Botanical Gardens/Kurashiki dam signs. When you arrive at the T intersection (Rte 329), make a left.
After you pass McDonald’s on the right, start watching for Route 36. There is a Lawson’s on the right and the expressway exit is on the left. Make a RIGHT onto 36. Once on 36, you will travel 1.5km – past a 50’s diner and a pet shop (both on the right) – start looking for these signs on the right (Thanks, Serena! Your signs STILL come in so handy.) and turn RIGHT:
Just like she says, once you turn off, you have to go through some farm area and follow the little signs. Try to carpool together if you can! If anyone wants to join me or follow, let me know! From Kadena Gate 3 it takes about 20 minutes door to door.
TIME: 9:00am-3:00pm. PLEASE leave early in case you get a little lost, and be prompt for class. We don’t have much time! Coffee will be served in the morning, lunch will be served at around 11:00am, and afternoon tea or coffee and croissants (and if you haven’t eaten their croissants – you have NO idea what you’re missing!) will be served in the afternoon.
What the class will cover:
- A general understanding of the functions of your DSLR camera
- ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed – and how to make them work together to get the photos you want
- Tips and tricks for composition and getting your photos right IN the camera
- Reference material recommendations (websites, books, editing tools)
- Access to an online forum for ongoing learning and community-style question and answer
What you will need to bring:
- Your DSLR camera with a charged battery, memory card, 50mm lens if you have it (if not, go order one at B&H Photo!), and camera manual. Bring any other lenses you have or wish to bring.
- A written list or an idea of any questions you have or things you’re extra-interested in learning
- If you have them or can get them in time (if not, just place the order ASAP): Scott Kelby’s Digital Photography Book and Bryan Peterson’s Understanding Exposure. I will bring my copies too – not to worry if you don’t have them yet, but they’ll be GREAT information when you go home with a head full of new knowledge!
- A check (made out to Aviva Photography) for $200 (or cash) for the difference in the tuition. If you’d prefer to PayPal the whole amount, please email me and I’ll send a request.
- Some empty brain space for me to fill
What I’ll supply for you:
- Pens, paper, and written material
- Access code & URL for online forum
- Lunch
- Way too much information
Feel free to email me with any questions! THANK you all!
